TOPIC: Custom mapped a 2009 R1 w/ full Graves today

Custom mapped a 2009 R1 w/ full Graves today 3 years 11 months ago #1

Got a chance to custom map a 2009 R1 with GYTR filter and Graves Full Titanium system.

The bike had a map from Graves made for the pipe.

It was interesting to see that the map was quite a bit off in several areas.

We 'found' an extra 3 hps up on to for a total of 162.5 rwhps and several areas where the power dipped. An extra 8 rwhps (best) from 4-7k.

On the same dyno an unmapped 2009 VMax with X-Pipe and Monster Big Air came in at 189,5 SAE (no custom mapping completed for that setup)

I am waiting for an extra set of high power blowers to get the heat out of the engine. At 9000 rpm and full throttle the VMax puts out tons of heat. Too much for a complete single step test through the rpms range.

Should have the turbo blowers next week. I am in the process of welding up custom adjustable mounts.

Interesting bit of information: The YCCT on the 09 R1 is even more intrusive than on the VMax. Starting at 11000 rpm it cuts the throttle down to 80% till redline at 13500. Seems like a soft limiter up high.

Looks like there will be extra potential with the TopThrottle controller that we have in the works.

I rode the 09 R1 stocktoday. Its a nice bike. Amazing the differance between modes. What MODE did you map in it I am guessing B. Great bike but not enough down low to make me trade for my 06. Great bike reguardless. The fan came on very fast like it might have some heat issues in traffic. Your thoughts on the dyno?

At WOT, the modes make no difference, on during part throttle roll on.

The bike is nice, got hot every run, the 10000 cfm are just not enough airflow, but less than on the VMax. The Max gets so hot under load testing, that I had to postpone the final custom mapping until we get two extra turbo blowers installed next week.

The sound of the 09 R1 with the full graves on is just amazing. Almost like a V-4.

Surely a nice bike. Might have to get myself one so I can join the ohio-ranimal club... :punk:

Oh you guys are UNREAL!!! I just spent some time on a 09 R1 and was contemplating buying one for the home. It's not that I NEED one, but since I have the three bikes at home....it was tempting to buy the R1 just for giggles.

I better quit visiting these forums cause my home bike shop can only handle so many, or else I may have to expand.

fxstein.....I'm waiting for you to get the best stuff figured out for the VMax then this fall/winter it's time to upgrade and mod my VMax.

Yes oliver I can imagine the sound. I want the Aprilia V4 but the dealers just suck out here so I am buying the ducati streetfighter instead. It should be in this month and I can't wait.. Its crazy that so many quick bikes are coming out for us 40 plus year olds with the power thats marketed for racing. Upright seating position is what I am all about from here on out..

I just picked up a 2009 with 1600 miles and can't wait to start the mods on it.
