A look under the cover of how we came up with the Monster Big Air. Photos and charts we have not published before, to shed some light on the Monster Big Air and why it gets those extra horsepower to the wheel.

Thanks for taking the time to explain behind the scenes for us Oliver. The fact that more torque was made with filters installed wasn't really a surprise to me. I've always felt that a touch more vacuum is created by utilizing the air filter. Finding the right combination tho, is the key to success. Glad to see that dyno really being used to it's full potential. I still remember going to Miami to look at it & thinking, "Man this thing looks NEW". That was a deal there for sure You work has been invaluable.

Thx! & Thx!

That setup has been very helpful.

Just realized that all the charts got resized when I uploaded them to the blog. The full size chart can be found the in the photo gallery link of the blog article.

Lots of details and a great write up, learn a lot every time I read these articles...

But at the end I hope this all will come together in one "package" ??

I guess the non-engineers amongst us (like myself!) would just want to buy a complete set, maybe devided in stages (i.e. 1,2,3 etc) what gives us 200+ RWHP without having to keep adjusting settings and sizes.

Please come with a package so I can confidently accept some of the Busa challenges around here

Great job guys...

So, are we looking at about a 5 HP PEAK gain over a modified air box(restrictor removed) with a high flow filter? Is there a chart showing this exact comparison?

Also, looks like about 190HP with the Akra pipe.

Very nice.

Please correct me if Im wrong.

The Akra mid pipe is on the way. Now I have my eye on the stacks.

Thanks

Let me put one together. Have it for the EX-Pipe.

The gain between modified airbox and Big Air is 5-7 rwhps (SAE) (all runs with filters)

First chart: Stock - compared to EX-Pipe with modified Airbox (SAE : 172 vs 186)

www.starvmax.com/community/photos/photo?...mid=127#photoid=1365

Secodn chart: Stock - compared to EX-Pipe and Monster Big Air (SAE: 172 vs 193 - ignore the U4 race gas numbers)

www.starvmax.com/community/photos/photo?...d=127#photoid=1363..

For the Akrapovic add about 3 hps to either chart.

Never went back and put the stock airbox back in after the Akros went on.
