The Beemer was a high 9 second bike when tested in the magazines stock. The ones that are running low nine high 8 second 1/4 mile are modified. It has the best power to weight ratio of any motorcycle made so it's got the potential to be the fastest thing out there. The VMax is very easy to ride WOT and is very fast....that is why it is out-gunning a lot of bikes in these street races.[/quote]

you gotta know when to fold em..

Yeap that's a stock bike alright.. They all come off the showroom with degree'd cams, heads milled & machined, shift assist, pipe, PCV, & a gear change.. ..

Add the above to the BIG V4 & ECU upgrade, lose a little weight and give it a shot..(pun intended) .. I doubt you'll be disappointed by ANY Litre bike.

On the street especially..

Bob who leaves a bike stock this days ? All joking aside , I was at BMP with a stock motored BMW a few weeks back .. The bike was not brocks but did have his pipe and tune and had the wheel base setting at 62 inches ..That is 4+ inches shorter than a Vmax ..The bike ran 8.40s and 8.50s all night long with a 170 pound rider ... That is flying for a untoched motor ..As you know Bob my zx14 runs 8.70s at 155 and i weigh in at 147 race ready .. That BMW running 8.40s @ 163 kicks the snot right out of my zx14... Sucks for me but those are the facts .. I don't care for liter bikes so i'll keep my zx14 .. But for me to out run one i would need to find some HP ..I was there that night to test ride the bike for BMW but could not because i have damage to both shoulders ..BMW offered me to ride it when my shoulders get better .. I can't wait to give it a shot !! The bike is just friggin FAST !!

Just an update: my friend on his BMW 1000RR took it to the track a few weeks a go. He said the best time he pulled was a 9.93, I don't quite remember the trap speed, I want to say he said it was 154. I'll have to ask him again & get a definite answer. His bike has a full Arrow exhaust, K&N & PCV. I don't think that time & speed is outside the realm of the Vmax's capability. I'm on the edge of getting a Holeshot exhaust, Big Air & Nash Flash...then it'll be track time!!

Lee.. you of all people know too well, there's no replacement for displacement.. It's just what you do with the cubes.. Had I to do it all over again, I would pull the motor day 1 and send the cams to Erson along with all the engine specs to have some cut. Pistons would be changed as well as bore, & some serious head work.. Redesign the EFI and spray it .To go faster just requires more ponies and a BIG 2 Litre V4 to start with is a good base.. The rest would be diet.. Jon at UFO has already showed us the bike going same numbers as the tricked up BMW.. No heads milled, ported cam degree'd, just lighten it up and give it a shot.. Imagine what a good engine builder could do with a Vmax 4 that no longer had crippled cams..

All bets are off when he comes out of the shop with a reliable 375-400hp V4.. Won't matter much what it weighs then ;)

You want a 440 in your Mopar to start with or a 340? ;)
They've got these Litre bikes almost max'd out for reliable horsepower.. The V4 is basically untouched so far..
