Had to return to work today. Shoulder still killin' me. But I did my time and was riding home. Off in the distance I see a GenII a new one, I think. I did my best to catch up in the traffic and finally I get up to him. Yup. That's a new VMAX. Pull up beside him at the traffic lights on the CB1300 and he gives the VMAX a rev, so I return, as does he. The lights turn Green and I give it a big twist on the throttle and dump the clutch. The VMAX. Just. Fucked. Off. I mean boom, gone. I might as well have been riding an electric bicycle.
I caught him at the next set of lights and he leans over and says "Do you know what this is?" I said "Yes, its a 09 Gen 2 VMAX 1600cc V4" He then says "Why did you even bother tryin" I just tilted my head and said "Ya always gotta have a go." He was laughing so hard I thought he was going to piss himself. The lights when green and that's the last I saw of him... I pussied my mates around for a bit, but didn't give it a hard time, but if that thing was stock, ridden in anger, I'd hate to see how quick a modded one would go. Makes me wonder if he was actually trying or not... |

Hey Soki2me,
I too have a very good friend of mine who owns a Gen 1 VMAX - has for years. He rides a lot and has done multiple performance mods on his VMAX. Very active in the local VMAX club and has had several dyno runs. Point being, very accustomed to Gen 1 performance. Well, he rode my Max the other day. He was like "HOLY S#@T!! I thought I had a fast bike!" Wouldn't surprise me at all to see him roll up at my house one day with a Gen II. I think he's hooked. |

Hey Steve, 1st off, Its a 09 Gen 2 VMAX >1700< V4.
And 2nd, Great try on taking it. Theres no reason to back away from ANYTHING. There have been lots and lot of wins by the underdog. What have you got to lose? If you lose the race big deal that was expected. But if you should happen to win for some reason thats some awesome bragging rights. So you keep on trying. If ANY bike pulls next to me its on like Donkey Kong thats for sure. |

Better do your damage with the 09 from the take off-
Was 75' behind a bmw touring bike when we both got on it to pass a slow vehicle in front of us. He got on it and I got on it at the same time. Thought I would pass the car and him, but he laid it open and all I could do was keep up with him. At those speeds(both doing about 110) the MAX doesn't have enough top end to pass. ok lets hear it how I'm a Suzy, and don't know how to ride, (BIFF BALL SAC). I'm 51 and been riding sport bikes for 25yrs 2-gen 1's 2-crotch rockets give me your best shots |

Honestly, and I'm not being a wise guy - you should get your bike to the shop. If you were up against the limiter in 5th (137+ mph) I could see it, but at 110 no way. Do you weigh 500lbs? (now I'm being a wise guy

No. But I still have to get to work, so I didn't have any for breakfast and I didn't have any for lunch so by the time I got on the bike I felt fine, sore as fuck, but fine in the head. Got home and med'd myself into a nice fuzzy haze.... SDPEARLY wrote: Hey Steve, 1st off, Its a 09 Gen 2 VMAX >1700< V4. And 2nd, Great try on taking it. Theres no reason to back away from ANYTHING. Should have seen me in my ol' WRX. That thing was FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST. I'd run bikes, "Supercars", school buses, ol' Ladys in electric wheelchairs, Dudes on Segways...... I think I made a new friend though. I saw him on the way to work this morning he gave me a wave leaned over and said "I'll take off in 3rd,(to)give you a chance!!!!" |

Past Sunday was a good day had a gen play on the hwy I was not even going fast in the right lane going to the dairy yes slow lane letting cars pass and Harleys trying this bike at the speed limit. Then he pulls by saw him coming from way back working the traffic gets along side nice looking bike with Hole shot exhaust pulls away a bit quickly but couldnt control the itch, had to follow after a brief stint I didnt see him anymore musta stoped.
Later in the day though got my ass handed to me on silver platted in Dutchess county on rt22 kinda got in the way of a Ducati hell ride leaders of their group were on Desmodecis 5 bikes total I gave a very feble effort to keep up but yes the vmax is not a moto gp built for the street tried to keep pace but didnt know the roads after three corners they were absolutley GONE I was impressed but also hoped a farmer didnt pull out somewhere with his tractor or slow moving car around a corner then i would have passed as they became hood ornaments. Ended up being a 250 mile day in the hills and hot as hell but still awsome. later Ty |

Yes, I agree. We need to understand that this is the baddest bike between the stop lights, no question. And can take out any cruiser, but this is not the fastest top end bike, or the best in the twisties, so trying to compete with the sport bikes, except light to light, is futile.
