The lying down of rubber has always been a demonstration of power.

Funny this should come up....
I ride my Max everyday to work. Just yesturday a guy on a M109 was in the next couple lanes over from me on a merge of two highways. Of course I pull in behind him (he was in the left lane) both of us running about 75 or so... I am about 200 feet behind him, move over to the next lane to his right, down shift twice.... Nail it... Pass him about 110 or so. For some reason he would not catch up with me on the next 15 miles.... |

Man-O-Man! This story has got me going!! I have been waiting & praying for someone to challenge the Vmax!! I've been sharking the streets like a Great White for months since I got the new Vmax. The only thing I've had step up so far was some tool on 750 Super Magna, he pulled next to me at a red light & began rev'n the snot out of his Magna. So I thought WTF, why not have some fun! Well...the light turned green & I rolled on the throttle...left him so bad, it looked like he was chained to a fire hydrant or something. Well, I can't wait for anything of a decent challenge to roll next to me (especially if they're talk'n smack!), until then...I guess I'll continue looking for prey...

In the one year that I have owned my VMAX I have only been challenged once and that was by a Harley of all things! Admittedly, it looked like a built and stripped Harley so I guess he thought he had something special. From a rolling 20 MPH start I left him like he threw out an anchor. Then he slinked away by turning off. It must have been his first bike or he does not read anything about bikes otherwise he would have known better. I never initiate any action but I will not refuse a challenge. Normally I would not race anything as pathetically overmatched as any Harley but he started it.
Another time I pulled up at a light next to a Ducati 1198. Conditions were perfect. There was a half mile of clear road in front of us. I was certain he would go for it but he did not. We just left the light normally. Considering the bike that he had, it probably would have been close but I think that he was intimidated by the Max. He had on his full racing leathers and everything. He just nodded at me and moved on. |

Hey C, You played your cards right. You can't help but be intimidated when it's 4 to 1. I'm sure thats why you didn't put up any money-- You wouldn't be able to collect after you embarrassed the crap out of them ! If your feeling a little cheated ? Maybe you and your friends need to spend a little time hanging out at Tim Hortons ? By the way---Is that a Cobra Avatar ? Jet, I laughed out loud when I read the "sharking" comment. That is a perfect description - I have been absolutely drooling for someone - anyone! - to step up and give it a go. Nuttin. You do have me thinking about an interesting paint scheme - Great White Shark... Hmmm.... |

Max, that's just how I've always felt when I'm riding the Vmax. I guess the more I think about it, it's a pretty accurate comparison. The Vmax (like the Great White) isn't the fastest out there, but pound for pound, the most menacing and awe inducing animal on the road. BTW, that would be a very cool paint scheme!
