Today I really went to Stadium Yamaha in Irving, TX and purchased a 2011 VMX in Graphite. It is mine and I have the VIN number to prove it. I was concerned about the riding height so I ordered the new seat from Corbin and they are shipping the "lower seat" (about 30 inches instead of the 30.5 stock seat) and it was shipped from the California location and will be in by mid week next week. I also considered after talking to the lead tech (Deam) about the lowering kit...but it would cost about $400 and the kickstand has to be modified and the performance of the bike would be changed. The lower new Corbin seat #Y-VMAX-9-F Front Saddle, 2009-2010 Yamaha Star V-Max $393 and this along with my thicker boots should allow me to put a full flat foot on the ground when I stop. This way I can switch from the stock seat to the Corbin seat (and hopefully the Corbin will be even more comfortable than the stock seat). The Corbin seat Saddle comes standard with Carbonium & Asphalt cover materials with red stitching to coordinate with stock components. So the new Corbin seat should look good with the rest of the bike. I do have a few questions... (1) the tool kit I received from the dealer today has only ONE combo wrench tool in the black bag...is that all that Yamaha supplies? Or should there be more tools in the provided tool kit? (2) since there is very little space to store anything on the bike (other than the space where the tool kit can be stored) I need someplace to store keys, garage remote, cell phone etc. Is the air box cover metal such that it can support a magnetic tank bag? The dealer told me it was either plastic or some other material and not metal? But OKBROWN tells me his is metal and I can't believe the 2011 is any different from the 2009. Can anyone confirm? I actually bought a small leg bag from Moto Liberty today but still would like a tank bag if it would work. I also ordered a new Arai RX-Q in Diamond Blue as well. (3) I did not purchase the extended warranty yet (YES warranty) and the finance girl told me that I have the full year (manufacturers warranty period ) to purchase a extended Y.E.S. warranty. Where do you guys suggest I purchase any extended warranty from ? Any dealership? OKBROWN tells me you can shop that around and possibly get a better deal than the posted Y.E.S charges. Anyone have a good suggestion for this? OKAY...this is my apology for all the indecision about the bike purchase but I AM SERIOUS NOW about having bought it.....just call Greg or Jason at Stadium Yamaha Irving, TX 972-445-0825 and ask them if they have a 2011 VMAX for sale....THEY WON'T I BOUGHT IT. So...I hope I have made amends with everyone here on the forum......I really am sorry for the back and forth decisions...but it is done and I own it... p.s. the last four digits of the VIN number are 1910 WOOOO.....HOOOOOOOO Hope to hear from you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Baron (the new 2011 VMAX OWNER) |

Good job.. I knew once goaded, you'd either sack up and buy it.. or disappear forever from Vmax land
Max is heavy & awkward on tip toes, but sliding the forks up about 3/4 of an inch will also help lower your seat height.. Congrats on your purchase & easy does it for awhile till you get to know how much power you're playing with |

Well congratulations and welcome! I hope you enjoy you Max as much as I enjoy mine, and have nothing but many years of safe riding ahead of you.

Yes, the magnetic tank bag will work on the bike.
If you do not buy the Yes warranty from a dealer Yamaha will contact you before your 1 year warranty runs out and offer to sell it to you at retail with 3 interest free payments. But if you want to negotiate with a dealer, if they quote you Yamaha's suggested retail the mark up is 100%. ie example 600.00 is 300.00 cost. Have fun with all the upcoming mods. |
