TOPIC: Another newb

Another newb 1 year 1 month ago #1

Hello everyone my name is Mike and live in east TN. Just picked up a 09 Max. This is my first gen 2 but my third Vmax.My first street bike was an 88 Max that I bought brand new and owned for several years. It was piped, cammed, and nitrous fed....loved it. I have been a busa guy for the past several years...had a 2000 that I bought new and added McXpress intercooled turbo kit...made 305rwhp on pump. The car bug bit and that ended badly...crash. picked up a 01 Max w/ufo exhaust and sold it and bought my current 08 Busa new in 08 which I still own and love. I was getting new bike fever and decided to buy a ZX14R and sell the Bus. After looking at the 14R in all the colors I decided no way in hell I would ever sell the Busa for...IMO....the ugliest motorcycle I have ever seen...even if it is the baddest thing out there. So decided to pick up a gen 1 Max for something different. My very good friend Rusty(TnVmax on here)who owns a 2010 Max said I should look into a gen 2. Always wanted one one just couldnt justify 20 grand for a bike....found a great deal on a low mile 09 and pulled the trigger...lovin it. My wife who also rides (08 GSXR 750) decided she wants a gen 1 max so being the wonderful husband that I am picked her up a 7k mi. 07 a couple days ago. Couldnt pass up the deal...it has progressive short shocks, lowered forks w/progressive springs and cut seat which she has to have with a 27 in inseam. It also has jardine exhaust an has been jetted....runs great. going riding tommarrow to see if she can ride this thing...if its too heavy guess I will have two max's. This is all your fault TnVmax !

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I have only put about 40 miles on the new max and it is a beast for sure....took it thru some twisties and am very impressed with its cornering ability. It is big though and will have to get used to that aspect. It makes my busa feel like a toy. The old gen 1 max that I bought for my wife fits like an old comfy shoe....had forgotten what a great bike they are. Tomorrow will be Janies maiden voyage on the 07....we will see how that goes. Wish us luck. Mike

Mike,
Sorry I missed your original post, :bigblush:
However, I am glad the Vmax fever has bitten you & Janie.
Now, if we can shake this stinkin' cold snap (37degree lows  ),
We will have to go for a ride & take pics.
We'll get Max in Powell & Don here in town & have our own little Vmax club ride!

...Let the mods begin! :focus:
