But, from ur pic with the car and ur girl..And ur story, i don't think ur hurtin' for cash.. Have fun and bsafe with the BEAST.. I dunno.... it was pretty thrashed. They said they'd take $13K, but I started doing the math and it'd take at least $3-$4K to get it back to original condition... and that's to say nothing else was wrong with it, no frame damage, etc. It also wouldn't have a warranty. I was able to get them down from $23.5K to $18K (before tax/licensing) for the new one - so at that point it was a no brainer. Also - part of the appeal (for me) on the VMAX is it's about the only bike i'd WANT to leave stock. As it comes from the factory, it has got gobs of power/torque, fully adjustable suspension, reasonably comfortable, exhaust looks amazing and sounds REALLY good (especially considering it's stock), the fender isn't ridiculously big and ugly, bar ends look superb, the list goes on and on. Why mess with perfection? A cat delete and ECU flash I could be game for... but aside from that and changing out the tire to something stickier - I prefer it just as it is. Had the red one been mint though, I would have bought it... even if it didn't look as mean/evil as the matte black |

First let him get use to the performance of the stocker. Then when he decides to drop the CAT and hears, feels, and see the difference just from that....ITS ON! Next will come the Air Box, then the (exhuast/flash combo, then....... Ummmm where was I??? Anyway like the other post. Great read. Its like living the feeling all over again thru your experience. Yes and start putting a little aside for tires every week.

I haven't had enough time with the VMAX yet to write up a formal comparo (but I will in a month or two after I put a few thousand miles on it), but if I could only own one motorcycle, without hesitation it would be the king. People like to beat on the king for its looks, but just like the VMAX, you've got to ride one to understand. It is NOT just a naked busa. |

Again, I'm open to the cat delete and the flash, but exhaust will never happen. I've sort of held my tongue so far, but (no offense) all aftermarket exhausts I've seen for the Vmax are butt fugly. A good part of the visual lust factor for me are the stock cans. I've had (and arguably have two right now) stupid fast bikes. My zx14 had a turbo and was pumping out 254 rwhp. Sure it was fast, but it became too fast, and just wasn't that much fun. A 10 sec 1/4 on the stocker is more that adequate power for me. If better rubber, cat and chip get me to the high 9's then great... but I don't need any more than that. Been there already. I don't care if my bike is faster than xyz car or bike, I care about the fun factor. Stock the b-king is a wheelie monster and has several magazine confirmed stock bike 1/4's in the high 9's. Stock the Vmax is the burn out king and runs low 10's. What more can you ask for? I live in Ca.... Home of traffic, stop lights and terribly kept roads. 200hp is fine, thanks. |

k....
Dont get your panties in a wad! The mods we are suggesting are not just for power increase, the work that Tim (Nash Flash) have done make the bike much smoother and more drivable than what you see now. I also like the look of the stock cans, I rode that way for over 10,000 miles. Just did not sound the way I was looking for... But its your bike, do what makes you happy for sure... |

Congrats on the new Max! Hope it brings you many miles of enjoyment!
I also like the stock mufflers....the look of the scoops and the cans have a certain symmetry that's hard to beat. I ran with them for a long time also. The re-flash will make the bike even more fun to ride and more enjoyable overall. It removes all of the "quirky" stuff in EFI and throttle by wire that can be annoying at times, along with improving performance. You might consider it down the road along with an X-Pipe cat eliminator. That keeps the exhaust looking completely stock, (except for the removal of the ugly black tumor hanging underneath the bike) removes over 20 lbs of weight, AND adds 10 lbs of TQ and 10 HP. It a great upgrade. Mark |
