I look foward to the comparo in a month. Is your BKing stock? If you happen to fall head over heals for the beast and want to make it your one and only, keep me in mind for the BKing. I would love to fly out to Cali and ride that back to NY where it would feel right at home as far as traffic, lights and poorly kept roads. Can't beat us out in that dept! Enjoy

Congrats on the new Max! Hope it brings you many miles of enjoyment! I also like the stock mufflers....the look of the scoops and the cans have a certain symmetry that's hard to beat. I ran with them for a long time also. The re-flash will make the bike even more fun to ride and more enjoyable overall. It removes all of the "quirky" stuff in EFI and throttle by wire that can be annoying at times, along with improving performance. You might consider it down the road along with an X-Pipe cat eliminator. That keeps the exhaust looking completely stock, (except for the removal of the ugly black tumor hanging underneath the bike) removes over 20 lbs of weight, AND adds 10 lbs of TQ and 10 HP. It a great upgrade. Mark I presume the flash and cat delete void the warranty? |

I had more than one claim with Yamaha, including a broken driveshaft and no grief over warrantee, even with an Xpipe
So not so much the cat delete, but the ECU def would be an issue.. |

I am sure if you ever had to hurdle that warranty issue depending on the claim and the dealer I can say I have never heard of anyone being denied because of it but these bikes really dont break , Bob was doing Crazy shit to break the shaft he is the one and only on that, if push came to shove I am sure you could get a loaner stock ECU from someone here on the forum you will find
if someone is in need that is how we roll we take care of needs , The exhaust is a common mod and doubt you would ever have an issue like Bob said . Enjoyed your story it inspired me to start that post running now thank you. Welcome to the band of Brothers and Sisters here at starvmax.com Those mentioned mods The V 2 flash , Modified air box and some sort of either entire exhaust system or Mid pipe w/ stock cans and the DD clutch mod is like flipping a switch on this bike the Flash opens the Throttle bodies to where they should open Yamaha dummies that stuff down so we dont get hurt . The Max can be harmful to your Visa card though...... |

Enjoy Just some very trivial additions to the king, fender eliminator (stock fender is about the worst I've seen), frame sliders and spools, gps install and buell pegs. I'll definitely keep you in mind if I ever sell it, but I doubt I'll ever part with it. It's so wacky looking (you either love it or hate it) and it's such a unique package. There are precisely zero bikes that offer the versatility of the king... Super comfy (for one person), great range (a touch under 200 miles) wicked power, super compliant suspension - but exceptional handling, the list goes on and on. I can't tell you how many superbikes I've flat out smoked.... Both in a straight line and in e curves. Two weeks ago, my company had an off site several day meeting down in Monterey Ca. I slapped some soft bags on it and ate up the miles - arriving comfy and not at all drained. On the way back (was with a few coworkers on bikes as well) some guy in a Ducati 1198s zipped by us, and for some inexplicable reason flipped us off. Knowing that most Duc riders are all show, no skill - I grabbed the gas while popping down 3 gears caught up to him (this is on the legendary CA 17 in the twisties) passed him on a deep inside right hand turn at about 40 miles an hour faster than him, which scared him so bad he freaked out, straightened up and almost ran off e road. I then hit the brakes (which he did as well, as he didn't want to face me) but he knew he had to as I was damn near stopped, and when we got side by side (just as my group was catching up) I blew him a kiss. Suffice to say, I think that a-hole lost his man card. When I got home and pulled off then saddlebags, I noticed the right bag was all roughed up. I was puzzled until it hit me... I was so deep in that right turn, I actually dragged my saddlebag. That said, sit on one and your initial reaction will probably be that you hate it. I'm convinced that's why they didn't sell well in the us. It's way wider around the tank area than the max (further exaggerated by the tiny front end) and it feels meh until you get it moving - so folks looking at that style of sport bike are quickly intimidated and turned off. Low speed maneuverability is outstanding, but I'm 6'3. Once you get used to he girth though, I don't think a better "overall package" exists. That said. (at least so far) the Vmax is more fun to ride. Frankly, I think they're the two best modern motorcycles out there. The king has the "great motorcycle" role covered and the max fills the "rolling fun factory" role. Having EITHER one in the garage is something to be immensely happy/proud of. |

I actually am in the camp of thoughs that like the B-King, Never rode one or even sat on one, but it always interests me. What a douche of the Duc guy flipping you off for no reason...

I started off dragging 2 years ago about the same time as a guy on a B-King. He purchased it second hand privately for a very good price, (as in cheap)it still makes me feel sick to think about it, as I am in a minority group that likes the B-king
The bike was stock and was not far behind my MAX. Anyway to cut a long story short. We both had a lot of fun as our times were close to each other, He was a short guy and was on his toes when launching. We gradually got faster with a lot of talk about each run We both got better as the weeks and months went on until I did a sub ten (9.99 secs) on the last night of the season over here. (Seems like a century ago) Since then I have had 2 major operations, first a shoulder rebuild and then a hip. Before the hip operation in 5 days I took MAX to the drags (f@#K the docter) for one night, as it had been 9 months or so since I had ridden it. I did 8 lazy 10.2 sec passes as the shoulder was not yet healed and still weak. On the other hand he on the B-King had progressed so far in my absence and was doing regular 9.7 sec with a few changes. e.g. lowering, power commander, no seat (he is short) and a few more things and looked like he was going to do a lot better than that. THE B_KING IS A VERY GOOD BIKE and should not be taken lightly. It has a VERY fast 60 footer in the right hands. BEWARE I will definitely buy one one day and put it in mothballs as a future project maybe? Hopefully if my body and work permits, me and MAX will be back in September with a lot more potential than before. I can`t wait to try Tim`s reflash out plus the other mods that are still happening. F@#K the expense I am in divorce mode. Regards ALL VMAXD |
