Started out on a a Yamaha Thundercat , then a Triumph Speedtriple which me and my wife toured the whole of Europe on. I then got the bug for touring and bought a BMW1150 GS which after touring Spain and France I sold when my son was born. A few years later got the urge and bought a Harley davidson Fatboy which I spent a small fortune on blinging it up. Nice bike, lots of admiring glances but it didnt feel right for me. Then went back to another GS which I took up to Nordkapp (71 degrees north - most northern tip in europe and higher than Alaska ). When I got back my Mrs said thats me done for long trips away so I traded it for a BMW K1300R ( seriously fast bike but soulless, so after a few months bought another GS. Felt like I had gone round in circles and it didnt put the smile on my face. I have always lusted over Vmaxs old and new. When the new one came out in the UK the price was scary so I never dared look. Now that the bikes are 3 years old I have managed to get one from a dealer in London for £13000 which is a good deal for the UK, most dealers asking £15K for same model with similar mileage. Will be picking it up on Saturday and riding it home to Lancashire. Just hopemit stays dry. After taking my deposit dealer began laughing telling me I will have a ball and make sure I mark down every petrol station on the way home Will look forward to hearing from you guys and no doubt needing lots of advice from you. There are some seriously nice bikes on this site, some of you must have spent a years wages blinging them up. |

Wildy,
Great story. It is always interesting to hear other people's tales that let them to the BEAST. You are sure to love it in comparison to the GS's. You wanted "Soul", you got it! Enjoy yourself and share some more riding experiences once you get a few more KM's behind you. Oh, BTW, let the mods begin! -Lee- |

Welcome to the forum, alot of great people on this site that are always willing to help. Enjoy the new beast and your dealer gave some sound advice, mark down all the gas stations where ever you go because this beast is thirsty and that combined with a small fuel tank makes for frequent visits to the gas station!

Welcome to the 4M Wildy. You have just received your first bit of Vmax advice and that is to make a note of petrol stations on your route home. If you are ever darn sarf
Also for Vmaxes in the UK have a look at www.vmaxchat.co.uk/ They are mainly Gen 1s but there are a few of us now with Gen 2s. |
