Any advice greatfully recieved

We don't know, since the next generation VMAX has not been released...Howerver from the specs that have been given it should be a nimble bike with great torque and power. It would suprise me if the new VMAX is lighter than 500lbs

The old VMAX is 578lbs.

Time to Ride This is VMAX

V max ladies & gentleman too!! 2 years, 4 months ago #12

Hei everyone
Thank you for all the mails!
Saturday April 11. we went for a bikeride up Sunshine coast.
We took the ferry from Horseshoe Bay over to Langdale.
It was the first warm day of the seson and we met alot of
other bikers.
The scenery is beautiful! just like Norway.
The roads up there gives you a fun ride and long egnough
to keep you buissy doing what you love the most
all day long. ...if you take the time to stop and get
something to eat, take some pictures etc. like we did.
We always get compliments for oure bikes and all of them includes the word "fast"

Sunday April 12. it happend again!
A car turned into my lane and I thought I was going to die.
He had no turningsignals on and was defenitly not turning his
head.
He scared me so bad forceing me towards the concrete wall
on my left side... I was screeming inside my helmet.
Not that he heared me or anything but he quikly tried to
get back into the lane he came from.
Making people behinde him hunk theire horn and blinking
with the headlights.
Heavy traffic in all three lanes on the HGW made it imposible for me to stop. I followed my husband knowing that we were about to exit soon anyway.
Well, after 15 looooong min. driving in 90-100 Kmh
and my screeming had turned into a kaos of snott&tiers,
we stopped at a gasstation.
When this happened we had a car between us, so my husband
did not see what happened to me.
I guess it was not easy to understand what I said to him
with my helmet on crying for some sympathy... but after
a little while my legs let me get off my bike and walk
over to the side.
I bet some of you out there know the feeling when youre
life rushes through youre head thinking of all
the people we love.
Just before we left home,I called my sons still living
in Norway(I'm Norwegian)and told them I love them.
Knowing anything can happen right?

My 22 year old "invinsable" son is driving a FZ 1000.
I told him over and over...- "Son, drive as if everyone is
a complete IDIOT!!!
No one sees you or pay any attention to you!!!"

My 20 year old son told me to just drive my truck from
now on
Hm... he has never been on the V-Max....

TAKE CARE FOLKS AND BEWARE OF THE"IDIOTS"!!!

Sorry to hear about your close call. Far too many drivers out there that should get their license taken from them. I hate the ones, that simply look the other side - as if they do it on purpose - just like a child - If I don't look there - nothing can't be there - grrrrrrr.......

Anyway, great you are ok and as you said keep watching for these idiots!

Ride safe!

Exactly Oliver,

I had a gal turn right in front of me last week.
Fortunately, I was going slow for some reason and was able to merge to the right and pull safely ahead. What gets me absolutely fuming, was when I turned back to let her know to pay attention to her driving...she flips me off.

So bike riders...PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO EVERY CONDITION AROUND YOU

And for the obstinate, brash jerks on the road, I'm still working on my small missile launcher mounted on the VMAX with a red button next to my horn!

Every biker experiences these situations maybe once in his lifetime. It scares the hell out of you. I learned the trick is not to let emotions get the better of you.
After such an event it's difficult to focus on the riding, because your mind is a cakewalk. But it's necessary because you may cause another accident while not concentrating.

It's taken me a long time to get that far (the not getting emotional part; you know angry, wanted to get back at that person, etc). Let is go.
I live in an overpopulated area, so there's bound to be at least one driver who's not paying attention. So my fellow riders: BEWARE!

That's the only advice I can give you...

Vmax 2009: give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desire!

Re:V max ladies 2 years, 4 months ago #16

I don't know how many total miles I've ridden, I've got 103,000 miles on this bike, but what I've learned is that we're invisible; so drive that way.

Think about what it means when you're invisible ~ and your entire perception of intersections, parking lots and the like will change signficantly. Cagers, for the most part, do NOT see you .. so it is YOUR problem.

This is how I ride and I've not in over 35 years of riding had a wreck that involved a car.

Yesterday we ordered 2 at our local bikeshop. At least, negotiations started for real now. Anyway, we'll pose this question at two bikeshops and see who's got the best deal.

As for the new Max: I like what I saw so far (apart from the unfinished backend). I hope it'll be spiky and trendy and less chopperish than the tail of the present day Max.

As for the rest: the new model is awesome: it hints at the past but is definitely the future. I like it a lot! Especially the engine is beautifully designed.
I hope this new Max will be better competition for the sportsbikes. I know US-customers are more in the cruiser league, but my preference is more sport/touring.
I don't like cruisers with terrible suspension and hardly any brakes. I want a powerbike with good handling performance.
A good handling bike is much safer to ride and in the end it'll give you the possibility to better your driving skills. I mean, when my options on that score on the Max ran out, I entered the period of bettering its performance: better brakes, better suspension, better wheel, etc...

I've no idea what that engine'll do on different road conditions as regards to power/torque. I trust Yamaha'll produce a motorcycle that can be handled by the presentday Max rider. I rode a Max for app. 150.000 kms, so the new one shouldn't be a problem.

I only hope the seatheight won't be a problem. 80 cm is the maximum height for me. Anything above is beyond my possibilities.
I mean, I love my MV Agusta as well, but I can just balance it by tiptoe at the traffic lights. And if I have to back it up, I have to dismount and manually push it backwards. I'm not complaining, because, just as on the Max, riding it gives me a smile from ear to ear. But I do hope the new Max won't be too high for me.

Well, only a testrun will tell!
And it looks like that's gonna be possible in the near future... I hope...

Re:V max ladies 2 years, 3 months ago #19

Somehow I expected nothing less from you and your husband. Too bad the bike will be too late for this years riding season in the Alps. Might have to plan a trip next year.
War2Max and I are also planning a 2010 trip there as we both have round birthdays to celebrate - at the very same day. I would hope the bike will be up for rental by then...

Maybe we'll get a chance to get to your neck of the woods in the meantime.
