TOPIC: Hi everyone,

Hi everyone, 4 years 2 months ago #1

I enjoy reading the forum, there is a lot of good information, which has helped me with my purchase, "thank you".

I just sold my 99 VMax on 3/4/09 and picked up my 09 Vmax on 3/5/09. It was a very sad day on 3/4, a lot of memories with that bike. However on 3/5 a very eye opening day and a very great day.

Prior to July of 08 I never thought that I would be riding again, I hadn't ridden in about 5 years and I actually thought I was too old (61) but when Byron at North End Cycle in Elkhart In. showed me the new VMax poster my heart dropped.

I had the tour windshield, sissybar, rear rack and the new ECU put on and drove home in a very gusty winds 40-50 mph gust it was an experience and the bike performed very well much better than I did.

The following winds were way down, and what a great time driving all over in S/W Mich. There a lot of the characteristics of my O9, but after 4k rpm it goes beserk, I only went over the 4700 rpm once and what a monster, I never seen nothing like it.

I never rode a motorcycle until I was 50 years old and had just had a 5 year layoff. It reminds me of being a paratrooper in the 60's except the high last until you have to gas-up.

The only downside I can find on the motorcyle is the small gas tank, I had to gas up 3x's on Thursday. It also needs some leg rest or pegs.

This is going to be a great summer, I have been retired for almost

7 years am looking forward to the summer getting some great riding time in.

Drive safe and God Bless!

Hi John, welcome on this forum and site.

I loved your write-up of your first experiences. Some machine, huh?

It's docile enough under 4500 rpm. And you can get used to everything over that at your leisure!

Ride safe and have a good time on this board.

Do you mean ECU, I don't know what it was like before the ECU, I only know it is is extremely responsive to the throttle, I only got it up to 80mph.4500 rpm's and I thought it was going to leave the atmosphere.

I'll have to get more familiar as time goes on.

Welcome to the site! You will know Max soon enough. It's natural to be a little apprehensive at first.
