If you are new to a web forum, or just want to brush up on the most current 'best practices' here are some links that will help you figure it all out.
Netiquette - A pretty long read, covering the art to communicate online. Check it out, you wont believe the things you never knew: www.albion.com/netiquette/ Here is another great resource: www.livinginternet.com/i/ia_nq.htm Here is what wikipedia has to say about it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette Wondering about some of the abreviations that are commonly used? Well here are a few: BTW = By The Way LOL = Laughing Out Loud ROTFL = Rolling On The Floor Laughing TTFN = Ta-Ta For Now IMHO = In My Humble Opinion BBFN = Bye Bye For Now IYKWIMAITYD = If You Know What I Mean And I Think You Do JK = Just Kidding NP = No Problem WBS = Write Back Soon Last but not least: Avoid writing ALL CAPS. Its considered yelling on the internet. It's ok to use it for a few words to emphasize something, but should not be used for entire posts. The forum also gives you other more sophisticated options to emphazise portions of yoru text. You cans use bold underscore or colors to achieve the same. |

Thanks Boss. These are good reads for all. I only hope our members do take the time to brush up on these a bit before posting. It will make for a smoother running site!
One of the most important rules for an open discussion forum is to avoid thread hijacking. Simply put; If a thread has been started about a particular subject, don't post about an entirely different problem. Please, start your OWN thread in the proper forum section instead, where it will get the proper attention and responce it deserves. The reminders below are also good to remember when posting. Asking yourself these simple questions before posting, will make for better communications and keep "hard feelings" to a minimum. 1. How would you feel if your boss read this? Or if you saw it in a newspaper? 2. What if the person was in the same room? 3. How would you feel if you received this e-mail message? We have a wonderful NEW site here, dedicated to the mighty Vmax and it's owners. Treating it, and others, with respect, is the best we can do for ourselves and each other. |

Netiquette, is the social code of the internet. There are ten core rules of netiquette and each website has their own. The rules of netiquette are the common conventions of internet communications. Remember to be nice!
