The ones I used have 14mm collets. Best get the bars and measure to be sure. If you are tight on space they fold in easily. Also, as I load the bike up with throwovers and tent etc I can fold them out further to see around the luggage.

The lux grips look great and are fine for a tankful. They can get a bit hard on the hands if you are riding some distance.

I know I spent way to much for this setup but I just couldnt keep my eye off these fat bars with the bar clamps so purchased them today. Thru email with Marcus in Germany he is making sure it will come with the chromed clamps (xtra 60 euro) like in the picture vs the black clamps. I plan on adding the Rizoma black billet grips, bar ends and mirrors found in another post thru PJ parts.

I haven't been to the strip since the change but I'm sure the Brocks with tuned reflash is stronger than my pipe and best guess reflash that I was using. I was out riding with G.Brown yesterday he is running another one of my 4-1 pipes with the same reflash + a 17" rear I was staying with him on roll ons and think mine is a little faster now. I guess we should have swapped rear wheels and tried it again.

I think the brocks/hindle is the way to go if you like 4-2-1 systems,especially if you are playing on the strip. That being said My 4-1 systems have worked pretty well for G. Brown and I for the past couple years though when nothing else was availiable. They would sill be a good pipe for street. Lots of low end and sound good. I would put them up against most of the other pipes out there such as akro's etc.

What's the cornering clearance like with the 17"? You can see in the pic it is definitely lower then the 18", so I think it would be a matter of how much cornering clearance are you willing to sacrifice to have a wider range of tire options ! Would be a great option for someone who wants quicker launches, more tire options, and want to lower their beast, with this option you would not need a lowering link.

Ok, well I decided to quit whining about it and went out into the garage and took some of Capt Bob's advise.
I took a rag and some old liquid Turtle Wax (I don't know what agent is in that stuff but I have used it to clean many blemishes that I thought would never come off) and I rubbed in a circular motion until my arms felt like they were going to fall off and now I have a very shiny tank and no sticker residue. Worked like a charm. So surprised that the Mineral Spirits got the goo off but could not get the mark that it left. All good now.

FINALLY got to installing my GURUED GEAR LOW OIL PRESSURE SENDER/LIGHT MOD

piece of cake installation....great pictorial-instructions from the website....can't go wrong!

Soldered my wire (instead of clip)....light signal works just as described.

Just installed my V2 FLASH.....so it shouldn't be long....snow or not....itching to get out!

tinkering with an aux fuel tank....so when that clear weekend comes along (soon please)...there'll be road trip rolling to check out the recall, light sensor and long haul....simultaneously

I would say more than 1/2 tenth...
Typically, what you make up in the 60' you can double in the 1/4, so if you had a 1.70 and went to a 1.60 then you would be looking at an overall net gain of .15 to .2 in the 1/4.

That is just awsome wish that last pic was clearer just a bit out of shape and the corner exit seemed quite a ways back there too been in those situatoins before unfortunatley once a bit too much.

Randy Mark Marcin Mike and i should all go up to New Hampshire they have track days at the speedway going to have to check into it. That would be crazy multiple Maxes having at it.

When mine was done, it was upright on the lift, and lost almost a quart of oil. My dealer topped it off for me. If the work is done on the side stand, there should be little to no oil lost. My guess is your dealer just neglected to top it off when they finished.

I like them Bandit motors , I've built a couple of them for mini sprint guys , if my memory is right Im thinking we used 88 GSXR 750 cams set at 102 on the intake and 106 on the exhaust , but I'd have to look in my notes to be sure. Wasn't the bandit what Brock was riding when he went the first 7 second street legal pass? I've seen pics of it and thought it looked like a highly modded Bandit.

Yeah the 750 or 1100 cams make about the same power, Ive tested them both quite a bit. I run the 1100s and thats what I sell since Ive done all my tuning with those. Your real close on your numbers also. I run 104 - 106 real close to what you have. This makes the best spread of power top to bottom on those motors.

Oh yeah I know all about Brock on his 7 second bandit street legal ,,,,,,, pretty much pro street bike a few years ago.

Bad ass and he is a great rider

Back in 87 I went 8:00 , 7:96 and finally a 7:91 on the GS based my / Kosman pro street bike with a small slick. Was not street legal though but I guess it could have been and made it 25 miles ........ well maybe ...... lol

What you and Brock did on them old Bandits is insanely impressive , 7 seconds on bikes that could be street legal in 1987....WOW.
You guys were obviously on top of your game , shoot there are guys today that cant do that on lengthend and modded ZX14's and Busa's.
Thats just the difference in someone that's an expert tuner such as Brock and yourself.
Alot of people don't realize that you guys are not just parts salesmen , you guys were very sucessful racers and innovators of alot of drag race parts today.

G Brown has a 200/17 shinco on the back of his 09 max. I have a 180/18 shinco on the back of mine. The tire diameter difference is about 1/4 inch. The mph difference at 4000 RPM is about 2-3 mph. thats probabably the difference between a 50 verses 55 tire size.

The reason there was such a signifigant difference when goig to 17" rims on the 1st gen vmax was because you were changing from bias ply tires to a radial tire. Changing from a radial to a radial dosen't make that big a change in tire height.

Look for levers that fit the MT-01. With the R1 levers the brake would probably work but the clutch is cable actuated on the R1 so the clutch lever will not work.

I couldnt agree more with you on any wheel can break , but I aint buying that the bike with the single sided swing arm broke that wheel from a normal holeshot , it would take a tremendous amount of power and if the HP was there the traction wouldnt be.
I bet for every broken BST wheel there is 10 or more aluminum or mag wheels.

That picture is from the "California" model Vmax where they require a charcoal canister for polution control. Other Vmax's dont have this, so just ignore it..

i have done my forks on my hayabusa and gsxr1000 and they werent a problem but quite a bit of work its easy but you have to have the proper tools, my right fork was leaking so when i took it in for the recalls oil pump and wiring i had them do the fork and they charged me 225.00 to do one which isnt a bad deal

Ted I do a lot of Aluminum Fabrication make custom alum trailers and make parts and such and have a pretty complete shop
/garage just looking at it I would say the two Allen bolts that lock the rear axel will come into play and would be the base
of your anchoring you would have to use spacers and longer bolts like grade 8 good bolts the spacers will still give you torque tension but will bring the head of the bolt out of the countersunk area what I would do is to make or find prob make a solid stud to fit into the hex shape recessed axel pocket you know where the rubber plug is some aluminum soilid round stock and go to work grinding / cutting it to fit in the pocket once fit weld a piece of flat 1/4 stock prob rectangle shape
tall enough to weld some thick wall tubing to the top and bottom for the trellis anchor points , Off the bottom of the flat plate you will have to weld some like 3/16 ths stock bracket to catch the two allens that are long enough to go thru the stock and
pas thru the spacers that will give it a solid anchor point the stud that fits into the axel pocket (snugly) will give lateral strength .

I would think if you have a good welder fab guy thats creative could come up with something as well but not having it in front of me does not help

That would also be a special tool to hold the Axel for tire removal lol.

There is no tilting, so what you would have to do to change the angle if you needed to is : Cut and weld fit a small radius from a stainless 2 " u bend and weld to the end of my exit tube the muffler slides onto. You may be able to cut my tube off a tad also so they dont get shoved back to far. Then you would make some clean little extension brackets to connect to my outer muffler clamps.

Its one of those things you would need to figure out after you get the exhaust and install it, then go from there if you need more room. If you have fab skills it should no be to bad though really

Got to run now, Im working on some projects today, like degreeing in some cams in my Bandit 1250 motor

I've been told that it wasn't made for that and won't support a passenger. If you sit a passenger on it, the seat will be pressed on to the electronic components under the seat. Cannes moto services has modified the seat to be used as a passenger seat. Take a look and ask them about it.
