Today September 10, 2007 at 12n EST Yamaha announced their 2008 lineup of bikes. At first look the lineup looks somewhat disappointing with only a single new model - the Star Raider - and no other changes to any of its existing models. On closer inspection there are some hidden clues in its lineup that might bring good news in the not too distant future.

The biggest clue it the missing VMax in the 2008 lineup. As we know Yamaha has pushed out the launch of the New Next Generation Yamaha Star VMax - they weren't ready in time for the 2008 release. No old VMax in the lineup means that Yamaha might be closer to releasing it than many people think. Yamaha must have planned to release the bike or the old VMax would have been in the 2008 lineup. It is unlikely that this gap in the lineup will last for a full year, we might see the release of the new VMax in the next several months.

Iconic takes the WinIconic Vmax wins Cycleworld International Motorcycle Show finals.

Randy's 2009 Vmax was invited to attend the January Cycleworld International Motorcycle Show held in Greenville South Carolina. The Iconic Vmax was up against some heavy competition from professional builders as well as the home builders.

The catagories where Pro's, Joes and Mob Rules. The Pro's voted for thier favorite Joe built bikes and the Joes voted on the Pro builds. Then there is the Mob Rules class where the show visitors vote on thier favorite bike.

Carbon Fiber VMax

Carbon Fiber has long become THE material for light weight racing applications as well as anything high tech from mountain bikes to aircrafts and spaceships. A material so strong and light that there is virtually no competition for it. In most applications form and looks are secondary to the function - it being super light weight.

Over the past couple of years more and more good looking carbon fiber has hit the accessories market for cars and motorcycles a like. Good looking and real CF usually don't go well together. If it looks perfect, it's printed and then it does not look real. If its real, it usually has flaws, especially around complex shapes.

ImageThis is the biggest Site Give Away we have had since the inception of www.starVmax.com a little over a year ago. Last weekend we scored the biggest VMax item from Yamaha/Star Motorcycles. Less than 50-100 pieces have been made worldwide by Oakley and even without the uniquness factor this item would retail for well over $500.

K&N FIlters for the 2010 VMaxAir filters are supposed to keep the dirt out of the engine. Unfortunately they are also treated like trade secrets. K&N has long been the leading after market filter provider for most street and race applications out there. Many racers and street riders alike swear by their products.

K&N offers a wide range of custom and universal filters. We use them for the Big Air Setup for ultimate performance. They have proven time and again that they are at the top of performance and longevity - especially if you treat them according to the manufacturers specs and clean them with K&N filter cleaner every 20-50k miles and re-oil them with K&N filter oil. For more information on how to clean K&N air filters see your K&N product manual.

Ted,

He said he'd consider trades, so maybe check and see if he's interested in a trade for yours? He may have been nervous about getting it dirty/breaking it in.

Swap a few parts out and Bob's your uncle. That would drop your mileage a bit, 25000 or so!

I like they way u think..His pads may be in better shape.
