Today Yamaha sent a message about the new VMax to its dealers around the US:

August 22, 2007 Star Motorcycles V-Max Concept Update

Dear Yamaha Motorcycle Dealer,

At both last year’s Dealer Meeting in Las Vegas and select Cycle World International Motorcycle Shows, a Star Motorcycles V-Max Concept model was shown to gauge consumer response and acceptance. We are pleased to inform you that further development of this concept model will continue from our factory during the year ahead and be assured that we will do our best to keep you informed of its progress during this time.

Thank you and best wishes for continued success,

Bob Starr

General Manager, National Communications Motorsports Group Company

The good news: The new VMax is coming for sure

The bad news: Another year of waiting. We expect the bike to be released as a 2009 model year version

You still shift with your foot. The quick shifter lefts you power shift without using the clutch for upshifts. You lift the shifter and the engine fule delivery gets killed for the amount of time specified. That in return unloads the gearbox and makes for a nice, clean and extremely fast shift.

Yes you can shift normal with the clutch. You can also set rpm limits.

Hope this helps!

still fail to see the point in having the tank. i dont even insure my car when the snow is off the ground. i just ride my bike everywhere and use it for long distance trips and during the summer i hit the highway almost every weekend. haven`t had a problem yet.
