Over the holidays, Yamaha has quietly updated the VMax Awakens Teaser site: Need-6. On December 25th 2007 several new chapters have been added, featuring interviews, movies and more need-6 related teaser material.

Within cheap B-style movies and teaser pages more and more VMax can be found. From partial front wheel views to Otodama V4 engine sound within movies.

Yamaha is feeding in a little extra fuel into the the saga about the all new Yamaha Star VMax. Only weeks after the prototype/sculpture has been shown in Long Beach, it remarks the continues spinup of Yamaha's marketing efforts for the arrival of the new Muslce Bike.

{mosgoogle right}With Need-6 Yamaha has launched a strange but memorizing website to promote the need for ultimate acceleration. Presented to the world during the Tokyo Motor show, the site marks the start for Yamaha's marketing machine to promote the New Next Generation Yamaha Star VMax.

Written in small letter and almost invisible to the new or returning visitor of the site, the home page contains a few words about NEWs that have been posted/added to the website.

Three areas are highlighted:

  • "Short Movies Need 6" is released
  • "A few words from people further pursuing Need 6." is released
  • "Are you suppressed or obsessed" is updated

The movie section features three new short movies, around acceleration and speed. They are B-style movies with rather bad actors and not so great screenplay, but the link into the overall theme of the site, promoting acceleration and speed as their core messages.

{multithumb default}  A new interviews section has been created that features the first of 4 short interviews with 'people' further pursuing Need 6. The first person to get a podium spot on Need 6 is nobody less than Valentino Rossi. On two short pages he tells about the thrill he gets out of extreme acceleration. He speaks about the first time you ride a 100hp motorcycle, and how much of a thrill that was, to how quickly that has become 'lame' and much more power and acceleration is needed.

The story ends with a picture of Rossi wheeling his 46 Yamaha Fiat M1 out of a corner under hard acceleration. With some 200+ rwhp the M1 surely is Yamaha's most powerful motorcycle built so far. Maybe a hint for the new VMax to dethrone that?

The site gets a few more updates and tiny makeovers done to it.

While no big news or details about the New Next Generation Yamaha Star VMax are shown, the evolution of the teaser site marks another step towards the release of the new #1 muscle bike in the world.

Expect to see further updates to Need 6 - VMax Awakens over the next weeks and months, as Yamaha prepares for the launch.
