I Have sold my V-Max 2009 because the engine was so noisy that this is the only thing I heard when I ride in the city. I buy in july a new V-Max 2010 and after only 200 kilometers, the engine become very noisy (clic, clic, clic, cliccccccc............). I am sure this is like my V-Max 2009 the front cylinders exhaust camshaft automatic decompressor that produce this sound. I have spend many cash to be happy and the Yamaha V-Max 2010 is the same garbage that the V-Max 2009. This is my fifteen Yamaha bike and never I have spent so much money to be so unhappy like that. Yamaha conceptor and engineer are not able to produce good mechanic, only shit!

{actor} My V-max 2009 is very very noisy, the front cylinder valve train is incredibly noisy (clic, clic,clic, clicccccccccccccccc .......) and the crankshaft-clutch gearing make a noise like if Yamaha engineer are not able to do good mechanic. After manu complaint and a registered letter to Yamaha, the dealer replace front exhaust camshaft because automatic decompressor unit have fail. After that, the engine become quiet for some kilometers and after that, the noise reappear, same problem. My opinion is that automatic decompressor system is design like garbage.
